Day 1 (Sept 17)
Travel by motor coach from McBain, MI to Sikeston, MO where we will spend the night. We will have dinner at Lambert's Cafe', which features classic Southern and American fare and "throwed rolls".
DAY 2 (sept 18)
We will have breakfast at the hotel and then travel to Memphis, Tennessee. A step on guide will give us a tour of the area. Lunch will be at Central BBQ, one of the best barbecue restaurants in Memphis. After lunch we will visit Graceland-Elvis Experience. Dinner will be at BB Kings on Beale Street. BB Kings is the original blues club with live entertainment every night of the week. We will spend the night at the Four Points by Sheraton.
DAY 3 (Sept 19)
Breakfast at the hotel will be followed by a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum. This complex of museums and historic buildings trace the civil rights movement in the U.S. We will travel from Memphis, TN to New Orleans, LA. While we stay in New Orleans we will be spending the nights at the Hotel Provincial. This hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located in the heart of the French quarter. Dinner is included at the hotel.
DAY 4 (sept 20)
Breakfast will be at the hotel. We will visit the WWII Museum with lunch included. This museum has a rich collection that will bring history to life. After lunch we will enjoy a City and Cemetery tour. This evening dinner will be on your own and there are a lot of options within walking distance.
DAY 5 (Sept 21)
We will have breakfast at the hotel before we travel by bus to Laura Plantation. At Laura Plantation we will learn what life was like for creole sugar barons and the slaves that worked in the fields. Lunch is at B&C Seafood, for a taste of authentic cajun food and culture. We will spend the afternoon at Evergreen Plantation which is the most intact plantation complex in the south. Dinner will be a The Court of Two Sisters which is one of the prettiest restaurants with the largest courtyard in the New Orleans.
Day 6 (Sept 22)
We will have breakfast at the hotel before we set out for Nashville, TN. Dinner is included at the Opry Backstage Grill. The Opry Backstage Grill cooks rustic dishes with roots in the Tennessee hills and live country music in a fun and lively atmosphere. Then we are off to the Grand Ole Opry for a country music stage concert. Overnight at the Drury Inn.
Day 7 (Sept 23)
We will have breakfast at the hotel before we enjoy a guided tour of the area. Lunch on your own will be followed by a tour of Studio B, a legendary studio located in Nashville's famous Music Row. We will also visit the country Music Hall of fame and Museum which seeks to collect, preserve, and interpret the evolving history and traditions of country music. Dinner included at the Wildhorse Saloon. The Wildhorse provides simple southern cuisine with live music.
Day 8 (Sept 24)
After breakfast at the hotel we are off to the Hermitage. The Hermitage was the home of Andrew Jackson who was an American soldier and seventh President of the United States. We will then travel to Belle Meade Plantation which was a former 4500 acre thoroughbred horse farm. Several outbuildings including the mansion and original homestead still exist. Lunch will be included on site. Before we head to the hotel we will visit the Johnny Cash Museum, which is a world class collection of items that tell the story of Cash's life. We will have a "Kickstart dinner" at the hotel.
Day 9 (Sept 25)
Breakfast will be at the hotel and will be followed by a day of travel home.
